Make the curly bracket on Mac

If you are Mac user, you can make the brace in the following ways:

1. Key combination

If you want to type the brace, first of all, you have to click on the point where you want to insert the curly bracket and then click simultaneously the following key combination:

  • to insert the opening brace: Alt + shift + [
  • to type the closing brace: Alt + shift +]

2. Keyboard Viewer

You can also insert the brace via the Keyboard Viewer. To use it:

  1. Click on the apple icon at the top left of the toolbar.
  2. Select System Preferences and then choose Keyboard in the window that opens.
  3. Now put the check mark next to Show keyboard, Emoji & Symbols Viewers in menu bar.
  4. In the menu bar, next to your Mac’s clock, a keyboard icon will appear. Click it and select Show Keyboard Viewer and the virtual keyboard will appear on the desktop.
  5. Then click on the Accessibility icon and select Keyboard
  6. Put the check mark next to Single keys and check that by clicking on the cmd, alt and shift buttons on the virtual keyboard they remain pressed. (To disable them, double-click on them).

  1. Click on the point where you want to insert the brace.
  2. Click on Edit at the top, in the menu bar and select Emoji & Symbols.

If you are an Android user:

  1. Open the app in which you want to insert the curly bracket
  2. Then, tap on the exact point where you want to add the brace and a virtual keyboard will appear.
  3. Click on the button ! # ☺︎ at the bottom left, and then on the 1/2 button.
  4. Finally, tap the opening brace icon or the closing brace icon.

If you are an iPhone or iPad user:

  1. Open the application in which you want to insert the brace
  2. Then, tap on the exact point where you want to add the curly bracket and a virtual keyboard will appear.
  3. Tap on the 123 button, on the bottom left, and then on the + = button
